Texas Alliance for Life PAC Endorses Dan Patrick for Lt. Governor

AUSTIN – Texas Alliance for Life PAC strongly endorses Dan Patrick for Lieutenant Governor in the 2014 General Election. We are confident he will continue to advance a robust and effective pro-life agenda for Texas.

“Since becoming a Texas State Senator, Dan Patrick has never ceased to advocate for protecting mothers and their unborn babies from the tragedy of abortion,” said Joe Pojman, Ph.D., executive director of Texas Alliance for Life PAC. “We look forward to working with and supporting him in every way we can.”
In his first session in 2007, he authored an early version of the pro-life sonogram bill to ensure women considering abortion have the right to see the ultrasound image of the unborn child and hear the child’s heartbeat.

“In 2011 Patrick successfully sponsored and passed House Bill 15, perhaps the strongest sonogram bill in the nation, which includes the right for women to meet with the abortion doctor in advance, before they consent to the procedure.

“That same year Senator Patrick coauthored Senate Bill 7, which eventually led to the defunding of Planned Parenthood $29 of $31 million per year by shifting women’s health funds to more worthy providers, causing Planned Parenthood to close numerous abortion facilities. He also voted for the bill to authorize the creation of the Choose Life license plate to promote adoption as a loving alternative to abortion.

“In addition he authored a bill to increase safety standards for RU-486 abortions to the FDA requirements and to require the physician to be present to administer the drugs.

“In 2013 Patrick’s RU-486 bill became one of the four components of House Bill 2, the landmark bill passed last summer to ban abortions after the 5th month of pregnancy and vastly increase safety standards at abortion facilities across Texas including requiring the FDA requirements for RU-486 abortions.

“In 2012 Texas Alliance for Life awarded Senator Patrick our “Courageous Defense of Life” award.”
