Thank you for signing our petition for lower property taxes!
By now most property owners have received their home appraisals in the mail – and it’s not good news. Property owners are reporting as high as a 25% increase in their home’s value. They want answers as to why property taxes are skyrocketing higher than inflation. This simply must stop.
The Senate Select Committee on Property Tax Reform and Relief is traveling across the state to hear the concerns of all Texans regarding property taxes. The committee has recently held public hearings in San Antonio (Central TX), Harlingen (South TX), Lubbock (panhandle), and is scheduled to meet April 27, in Arlington (North TX).
As Lieutenant Governor, Dan Patrick has made lowering Texans’ property taxes one of his top priorities. The Texas Senate has answered the call from Texans who want lower property taxes by passing legislation, that voters later approved, that increases the homestead exemption from $15,000 to $25,000.
However, our work is not done. More will be accomplished next session. Texans deserve lasting property tax relief and that is what this committee is designed to do.
Wrapping up with a scheduled meeting in Houston in May, the Senate will be better prepared to bring further property tax relief to all Texans next legislative session.
Please share this petition with your Texan friends and family members to spread the word:
