MONTGOMERY COUNTY – Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick cast his ballot in Montgomery County today in the 2017 constitutional amendment election. He was joined by Senator Brandon Creighton, R-Conroe.
“I voted for all the Constitutional amendments on the ballot and I am especially proud to vote for Proposition 6, which will exempt surviving spouses of first responders killed in the line of duty from property taxes until they remarry. This was one of my legislative priorities in the last session.
“Voting is one of our greatest freedoms. It always feels great to cast a ballot and I encourage you to go to the polls and vote. Early voting continues until the end of the week and Election Day is next Tuesday.”
In order for a Constitutional amendment to be placed on the ballot it must receive a 2/3 vote in both the Texas House and the Texas Senate –both of which have strong Republican majorities.
