Applauds SBOE effort to ensure curriculum reflects state values
AUSTIN – Dan Patrick, Texas State Senator and Republican nominee for Lieutenant Governor makes the following statement regarding the State Board of Education (SBOE) Vote on Advanced Placement U.S. History (APUSH):
“As Chairman of the Senate Education Committee, I have been focused on protecting our classrooms from outside interests. That is why I passed legislation during the 83rd session prohibiting the use of Common Core materials in Texas schools.
“Today, we once again face outside interests who want to influence our curriculum. I applaud the efforts of the State Board of Education to ensure our curriculum reflects the community standards of our state and not the revisionist history promoted by interest groups.”
