I’ve been saying for a long time that the number of illegal immigrants currently in the United States is grossly underestimated. A few weeks ago, on Fox News, I pointed out that it makes no sense that the official estimate of the number of illegal aliens in the U.S. — about 11 million — has not changed for almost two decades. We know that about 400,000 illegal immigrants are apprehended at the border every year. Law enforcement estimates that they stop about one in five who are coming in illegally. This means as many as 1.5 million are crossing the border illegally every year — two thirds of whom come into Texas. Last week, researchers at Yale took a serious look at the data and they estimate that there are as many as 16 to 22 million illegal immigrants living in the U.S. today. They also made clear that the number could be as high as 29 million. Read the full article here.
