A convocation ceremony for the inaugural 40 inmates who have been accepted to the program is scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29 at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s Darrington Unit, 59 Darrington Unit Road, in Rosharon. The seminary is nondenominational program, sponsored by the TDCJ, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Southern Baptists of Texas Convention and the Heart of Texas Foundation. The school will train inmates who are serving lengthy sentences to become ministers. Today is a great day for women's health and unborn children in Texas. The Sonogram Bill will improve women's healthcare in Texas, provide women the information that they deserve through informed consent and, undoubtedly, save thousands of innocent lives. If only one in five women in Texas decides to carry her baby to term after seeing the sonogram, it will save 12,000-15,000 lives a year.
